Server logs for Discord, with who did what

Koya is a Discord logging bot. It posts what happens on your server in the log channels you pick: deleted and edited messages, members joining and leaving, bans, role and nickname changes, channel and permission updates, voice activity, AutoMod actions and more, over 60 events in 13 categories. When a moderator is behind an action, the log names them and the reason they gave. Every event is free, and everything is set up from the dashboard.

  • Over 60 events in 13 categories, each with its own switch
  • Deleted and edited messages, with their text
  • The moderator and reason behind bans, kicks, role and channel changes
  • One log channel for everything, or one channel per event
  • Ignored channels and roles to keep the noise out

What Koya logs

Turn on whole categories or single events. The preview above shows three logs as they arrive in a log channel: an edited message, a deleted message and a ban.

CategoryEvents
MessagesDeleted, edited, bulk deleted, pinned and unpinned
MembersJoined, left, role given or removed, nickname changed, timed out, banned, unbanned, kicked, pruned
ServerSettings changed, bot added, scheduled events, command permissions
ChannelsCreated, deleted, updated, permission overwrites added, changed or removed
RolesCreated, deleted, updated
Emojis and stickersCreated, deleted, updated
VoiceJoined, left, moved, disconnected, server muted or deafened
ThreadsCreated, deleted, updated
WebhooksCreated, deleted, updated
IntegrationsCreated, deleted, updated
InvitesCreated, deleted, updated
StageStarted, updated, ended
AutoModRules created, deleted or updated, messages blocked or flagged, members timed out

A deleted message log shows the author, the text, the attachments and when the message was sent. An edit log shows the old and new text with a link to the message. A member leaving shows the roles they had.

Who did it, and why

When a moderator bans, kicks or times out a member, changes a role, a channel or a permission, or deletes someone else's messages, Discord writes it in the server's audit log. Koya reads that entry and adds the moderator and their reason to the log, as on the ban in the preview.

This needs the View Audit Log permission. Without it, kicks and changes to the server, invites, webhooks, emojis and AutoMod rules cannot be logged at all, and the other logs show no moderator.

Choose where each log goes

Three ways to route logs, which you can combine:

  • One log channel: every event you turn on goes to the same channel.
  • One channel per event: deletions in #message-logs and bans in #mod-logs, for example. An event without its own channel uses the main one.
  • Logs for specific channels: the message logs of the channels you choose, such as #staff, go to a separate log channel.

Ignored channels, or whole categories, and ignored roles keep busy channels and staff out of the message and voice logs. IDs can be shown or hidden on every log.

Set up server logs in three steps

Everything is configured from the dashboard.

  1. Add Koya to your Discord server and keep the View Audit Log permission on its role.
  2. In the dashboard, open Logs and pick the log channel.
  3. Turn on the categories or single events you want, then add ignored channels or roles if needed.

Koya must be able to see the log channel, send messages there and embed links.

Server logs and the mod log

Server logs record what happens on the server. The mod log is something else: a numbered case for each ban, kick, mute or timeout, which you can look up later with /modlogs. Both are set up on the same dashboard page, each with its own channel.

Free, Premium and Pro for logs

Every event, routing option and ignore list is free. Only the number of channel-specific log rules changes. The other limits are on the Premium and Pro limits page.

FAQ

Is the logging bot free?

Yes. Every log event, one channel per event, ignored channels and roles and the mod log are free. Premium raises the channel-specific log rules from 1 to 50.

Can Koya log deleted messages?

Yes. The log shows the author, the text, the attachments and when the message was sent. When a moderator deletes someone else's message, a second log names the moderator.

Can Koya log edited messages?

Yes. The log shows the old and the new text, with a link to the message.

Does the log show who banned or kicked a member?

Yes, as long as Koya has the View Audit Log permission: the log names the moderator and the reason they gave.

Can I send different logs to different channels?

Yes. Give each event its own channel, or send the message logs of chosen channels to a separate log channel.

Does Koya log voice channels?

Yes: members joining, leaving and moving between voice channels, plus disconnects, server mutes and deafens by a moderator.

Why is a log missing?

Check that the event is turned on, that Koya can see and post in the log channel, that it has the View Audit Log permission, and that the channel or member is not ignored. Messages sent by bots are not logged.
